The Alt. Ed program strives to create a typical high school experience for our students, both academically and socially. As such, our students not only have access to the mainstream curriculum but also to sports teams, clubs, and other non-academic events. CHARMS staff encourage students to take advantage of these opportunities to enhance feelings of integration and connection with regular education students and the school community at large.
In addition to extracurricular activities offered during the academic year, seniors have the option to participate in Canton High's Graduation Ceremony (provided completion of required service hours). This opportunity allows CHARMS Alt Ed students to celebrate graduation with grade levels peers (CHARMS and mainstream), allowing them to enjoy in commencement with the students they shared their high school experience with.
*Note: CHARMS students receive diplomas from the sending district, but are not distinguished as a CHARMS student during the CHS ceremony; students may participate in the Graduation Ceremony of the sending district if preferred.
